Stockport's U17 home grown fly half, Tom Curtis , has just finished a successful campaign with Sale Sharks U18s . Tom played the majority of the 2 U18 tour games away in Ireland v Leinster and Munster at positions 10 & 12 , kicking 11 of 13 conversions and penalties across the 2 games.
On their return this week the Sale Academy boys then headed down to Warwick school to play 2 U18 games against Leicester Tigers and London Irish where they were again unbeaten and did not concede a single try across the 2 fixtures.
Tom said "I'm really pleased with how the tour and fixtures have gone for me , being the youngest in the U18 playing group at just 16, I didn't expect to get as many minutes on the pitch as I did but I'm glad I got the opportunity to play lots of rugby and show the academy coaches that I could cope at that level against the older boys. This will stand me in good stead for the winter premiership U18 fixtures from January and also for when I go to Sedbergh school this September to study my A levels, as the standard of rugby I'll be playing up there will be on par to this "
Tom will not have the opportunity to play for the new Stockport and Manchester Colts team this year "MAKOS" through being away at boarding school and his commitments with the Sale Academy but he did say " I wish all my mates and the Caches at Stockport all the best with the new Colts venture, I hope both clubs make it work as it will mean Stockport and Manchester will have a stream of senior players later on . I'll be watching them whenever I can when I'm home , and watching the first team too"
